Catherine Neumann passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Naples, FL. Catherine was born in Romania of German ancestry on October 1, 1920. In September 1944 she fled from Romania in a horse-drawn wagon and settled in Austria where she lived until 1951 at which time the entire family immigrated to the United States. Upon arriving in New York, Catherine, John, her husband and her son, Nic relocated to Chicago, IL. Catherine and John lived in the Chicago area until moving to Florida in 2006. Survivors include her sister, Elisabeth Schmidt; son and daughter-in-law, Nic and Ann Neumann of Naples, FL; surviving grandchildren are John L. Neumann of Naples and Nick (Gina) and Monica Neumann of New Jersey; surviving great-grandsons are Nicholas, Matthew, Michael, Louis, and Alex. Visitation and prayer service will be held on Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Hollerbach Funeral Home, 4022-36 N. Elston Ave. at Irving Park Rd. Private Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
